Suffolk Law offers a general LLM, an LLM in Global Law and Technology, and a post-LLM degree (SJD). The Legal English Institute is also an option for those students whose first language is not English.
General LLM
If you want to tailor your legal skills to a particular field or emerging area of law, consider the general LLM.
Create your own track or choose from Suffolk’s recognized areas of expertise, including dispute resolution and civil litigation, business law and financial services, biomedical and health law, intellectual property, and international law.
The general LLM program is 24 credits and can be completed in 10 months (full-time) or three years (part-time). You may also choose to participate in the LLM internship program in the United States or abroad.

Global Law and Technology LLM
Suffolk's Global Law and Technology program was the first of its kind in the United States.
Create your own professional program from a wide range of courses, or choose from one of these four specializations:

SJD
If you are seeking a career in academic law in the US or abroad, you may pursue a Doctor of Juridical Science.
Under the supervision of a committee chair and two advisors, candidates must complete the following 24 credits over a residency period of two consecutive semesters:
- SJD workshop (6 credits)
- Elective courses (10 credits)
- Research credits (8 credits)
Before the end of your third year of study, you will be expected to produce a dissertation that constitutes a substantial and valuable contribution to legal scholarship.

Legal English Institute
Suffolk Law is one of the only law schools in the United States that offers a special language program exclusively for LLM students.
This intensive three-week program introduces international students to the U.S. legal system, while assisting in the development of the specific language and academics skills needed to be successful at an ABA-accredited law school.
Topics cover note taking, grammar, writing, public speaking, legal vocabulary, and using U.S. legal materials.
The Institute is open to Suffolk students, as well as those accepted to other U.S. law schools.
