Birkbeck's School of Law is a leading international centre for world-class legal research and scholarship. The School provides a range of innovative Masters degrees and hosts a flourishing community of students engaged in graduate research. All members of teaching staff carrying out multidisciplinary research in exciting and innovative areas. The academic staff are recognised leaders and experts in their fields, and are particularly well known for addressing legal issues from a critical and sociolegal perspective.

For those interested in taking modules from across our portfolio of LLM programmes, but do not wish to focus on a particular subject area, our General LLM programme is designed to give students maximum flexibility.
Each year, in addition to our Masters degrees, we are joined by a large and vibrant community of high-quality research students studying towards a University of London MPhil or PhD in Law. The programme can be undertaken part-time (over a minimum of 3 years), or over a minimum of 2 years full-time.
