The University of Law is launching new SQE courses
The University of Law (ULaw) is launching a new portfolio of Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) programs to give law students a selection of options in their route to qualify as a solicitor.
The SQE is being phased in from 1st September 2021 as the new centralised way to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales. Students who want to sit the new SQE1 and 2 assessments will be able to select from masters courses – which will incorporate SQE preparation – or standalone SQE preparation courses.
ULaw’s masters courses will enable students to develop their legal knowledge and skills beyond that required by the SQE and comprises programs for both law and non-law graduates. They will also be eligible for postgraduate funding.
Pro-Vice Chancellor at ULaw, Peter Crisp, explains, “Following the approval of the SQE by the Legal Services Board, we are thrilled to announce our exciting range of innovative SQE preparation courses which we are launching over the coming year. Our programs, building on our heritage of outstanding teaching and support for our students, incorporate the latest learning technology and analytics, which we are confident will ensure exam success in the SQE.”
Mr Crisp continues, “Our focus is developing and supporting our students to get the careers they want by ensuring they have the skills, knowledge and behaviours employers are looking for. Our exclusive SQE Plus content will empower students to be practice-ready and lay excellent foundations for their legal careers. Importantly for students, our masters program will be eligible for student loans. The introduction of the SQE is a monumental moment for legal education. As the major provider of legal education in this country and with our focus on quality and student experience, The University of Law is leading the way with its new generation of SQE programmes.”
Online SQE Preparation courses will launch this month with SQE Law Essentials, a 10-week online course that is aimed at non-law graduates, providing focussed study of the law required for the SQE assessment. The online SQE1 Preparation Course with the masters programs will begin in September 2021.
