USC Gould Law is launching 2 new LLM degrees
The University of Southern California Gould School of Law is launching two new LLM degrees in fall/autumn 2024 – an LLM in Business Law and an LLM in Media and Entertainment Law.
As well as specialising in areas of law concerned with these exciting fields, these brand new Master of Laws degrees will include modules on other content including US common law, antitrust, artificial intelligence (AI), corporate governance, intellectual property (IP), mergers and acquisitions, and music law.
The LLM in Business Law will explore a broad range of issues, such as negotiating and facilitating transactions, startup company advice, taxation and bankruptcy. Meanwhile, the LLM in Media and Entertainment Law has been designed to give students legal knowledge specifically related to the entertainment industry, with coursework designed to build negotiation and contract drafting skills. This LLM will also explore music, sports and video game law.
USC Gould School of Law Dean and the Carl Mason Franklin Chair in Law, Franita Tolson, explains, “We have found that employers place considerable value on staffing talent with a blend of interdisciplinary skills and focused expertise. Our new programs in entertainment and business law reflect our commitment to providing innovative education that prepares our graduates to tackle the complex challenges of tomorrow’s legal world with confidence.”
The LLM in Business Law and the LLM in Media and Entertainment Law are both one-year, 24-unit degree programs taught on campus on a full-time basis. These LLM degrees are open for enrolment in the fall/autumn 2024 or spring 2025 semesters to eligible applicants with a law degree (JD, LLB or equivalent) – pending American Bar Association (ABA) acquiescence.
