Villanova University launches new LLM degree in US Law

Villanova UniversityVillanova Law is launching a new LLM degree in US Law for Foreign-Trained Attorneys – with the inaugural class starting in August 2025.

This is a one-year, in-person Master of Laws program designed for students who have obtained their first law degree (such as an LLB) outside of the United States. The new course will enable foreign students to gain proficiency in the law, the legal system and its practices in the US.

The LLM in US Law will also help students qualify to practice law in the US in those jurisdictions that allow foreign attorneys to sit for their bar exam upon meeting specific educational requirements.

Speaking about this exciting new academic offering Mark C Alexander, the Arthur J Kania Dean of Villanova Law, said, “Launching a program specifically for foreign-trained attorneys at Villanova is an exciting opportunity. Students will gain a broader, engaged understanding of the intricacies of US law and expand their skills to serve as experts in US law in other countries. The program will also allow us to continue building academic and professional relationships internationally.”

The deadline for applications for the LLM in US Law for Foreign-Trained Attorneys is Thursday 1st May 2025 – and classes will begin in August 2025.
