This wholly online LLM International Business Law programme has been designed for graduates from diverse academic backgrounds as well as those possessing working experience in the business or financial services sector to provide a solid exposure to the operation of the legal environment governing commercial operations and decision-making.

The LLM is specifically designed for graduates from diverse disciplines as well as legal professionals who already have some practical commercial and business experience and who want to enhance their knowledge and skills to assist them in advancing their career, whether that is a career change or assuming a more senior-level role in a business, organization, or commercial enterprise. The programme offers an opportunity to gain an extensive understanding of the Common Law legal system, with specific focus on its commercial environment. Students will have a chance to tailor their learning journey by choosing two elective modules from Corporate Governance, Aspects of Banking, Intellectual Property Law, International Sale of Goods and International Financial Crime. To achieve your full LLM, are required to complete a dissertation project on a topic within the international business law.

To achieve a full Master of Laws (LLM), you will be required to complete 180 credits. This programme is also available as a postgraduate diploma (PG Dip) which amounts to 120 credits, a postgraduate certificate (PG Cert) which amounts to 60 credits and a postgraduate award (PG Award) amounting to 30 credits.

The indicative study duration is 30 months to complete the LLM, 20 months for the PG Dip, 10 months for the PG Cert and six months for the PG Award.

Teaching methods and style This programme is designed to be studied wholly online and part-time. Teaching is delivered through our state-of-the-art Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which provides students with access to all resources required for interactive study online. On this platform you will be encouraged to work collaboratively with classmates and actively read around your topic through our comprehensive library of eBooks and journals.

Programme modules, apart from the dissertation, are delivered over an eight-week period with one module studies at a time. The student’s learning journey is facilitated by the use of written materials, lecturecasts (video presentations), interactive individual activities, case studies, and discussion boards.

Methods of assessment Assessment is exclusively through online assignments rather than examinations. You will be assessed through a range of activities, including written assignments, presentations, discussion forum participation and journal entries.

Career destinations The programme follows a career-driven curriculum, developed to provide practical expertise directly applicable to a professional setting. Graduates will be equipped with a solid base when undertaking roles in government and non-government agencies, business, the financial sector and the legal profession in the varied jurisdictions.
